Little Wiggle Worm

Today has been the most exciting day yet!
Mom met me over at my OB for my NT screening. An NT screening is when they do an ulteasound to measure the back of the baby's neck to determine if there is a risk of the baby developing Down Syndrome or Trisomy 13.

The test results were very favorable, so nothing to worry about there.

The bonus benefit of having this test is of course the fact that you get another ultrasound!

The scan started out with the baby sleeping. We could see the little heart flutter (168 bpm) and it was beautiful! But all of a sudden, something happened and the baby woke up! For the next 45 minutes, this baby did not stop moving, kicking, punching, opening and closing it's mouth, and rolling around. I think the baby was trying to give me a hint as to what to expect when he/she is born. Hence, the nickname "Wiggle Worm".

So anyways, the baby has ten fingers and ten toes! Everything looks perfect and right where is should be.

Please enjoy the pictures and the video!

Shopping

Mom and I had a great time on Sunday browsing through the baby section at Target and then the entire Babies R' Us store. The choices were endless and I have a feeling that it will be a little overwhelming trying to make sure I have the "appropriate" car seat, crib, stroller, etc.
There are just so many options, it will be hard to know which one is the safest.

On decor for the nursery, I have decided that I will stick with a gender neutral theme. I really just love the simplicity of primary colors. Of course, as soon as we find out if we are having a little boy or a little girl, I'm sure to add those gender specific touches everywhere I can.

That's all for today. Thanks for checking in!

It was an exciting week for Ron and I. We had our 1st prenatal visit with the doctor and the news was good. When they did the ultrasound, Ron and I got to hear our baby's heartbeat and it was a beautiful sound. The FHR (fetal heart rate) was 179bpm which may seem high compared to all of our heart rates, but this is actually perfectly normal for a fetus at this stage. Actually, old wives tales would suggest that a heart rate of higher than 160bpm or so would indicate we are having a girl, however that is just an old wives tale and the FHR will start to decrease as i get further along.

Our little jelly bean is growing just like it should be...
We are overjoyed.

An Introduction....

Hi everyone and thanks for visiting my first ever blog. With the upcoming addition to our family, I felt a blog might be the best way to keep everyone informed.

My goal is to update this blog each Monday and then each time there is something "important" to share.
The ultrasound picture was taken at 6 weeks and 1 day. I had a positive pregnancy test on December 15 an didn't last one day before I had to tell Ron.
I let him in on the secret by buying a Duke Blue Devils crib mobile that plays the glorious Blue Devil fight song. Surely, our child will grow to love the Devils as I have.
